Hints of use

First, if you use MPCiv2 and Civilization II normally, you shouldn't have any problems.

Hints:

- You will need to have DirectX installed. DirectX is a Microsoft game library, available with most recent games, or at www.microsoft.com/directx . If you’ve got an error telling you that "dplay.dll" has not been found, you need DirectX.

  • If the presentation movie is not terminated by MPCiv2, close it manually before 5-10 seconds.
  • Never go into "Games Options", and disable "Always wait at end of turn".
  • - Never activate "Tutorial Help". The various graphics options could perhaps be reactivated. Test the graphics, and let me know how they work. The graphics are not likely to work correctly for all players (especially the throne room).
  • - Don't use the foreign advisor menu. (It should be disabled)
  • - Use the Diplomatic Bag to initiate all diplomacy, even with computer players:
  • - Mpciv2 is quite touchy on slow computers. So if you’re playing on a DX-66, try to not anticipate too much, and don’t press too much keys in advance.
  • - if you have a crash of MPCiv2 or of MPCiv2, every player have an autosave.mpc file, containing the last turn, in the saved game path. Just restart it from one player. And signal us the crash.

Tips:

Autosave feature

Autosave.mpc is the last automatic saved game file.

Diplomacy
- When swapping a unit, the unit is placed in the capital of the player who gets it. The capital is normally the city with a palace. If capital has been captured, then the player's first city will receive and own the unit.
- When swapping a city, all of the units owned by the city will also be part of the deal, and will placed in the swapped city.
- For a treaty to be signed, both players must check the corresponding box (Peace, Alliance, or Cease-Fire).
